Anti-Flag : NEW VIDEO "The Modern Rome Is Burning"

Dear Friends, Family, and Comrades,

One primary function of government is to help those who can not help themselves. A second is to protect its' citizens from threats at home and abroad. The government in this country has failed miserably at all of the above and more. You get what you pay for and you get what you vote for. If you choose not to vote you will end up with a government that people who endeavored to vote choose for you. Often others will not vote for people or ideas which you support, however, you have to live with the consequence of their choice.

When you don't control your government, when you don't keep the pressure on your elected officials to act righteously, people (usually people from far away places) want to kill you. (The "you" in this case being any Americans they can line up in their gun sites.)

When you let greed obsessed and morally bankrupt corporate raiders run your government you end up in unnecessary illegal wars of profit and as if that isn't bad enough, your economy collapses. It's the equivalent of letting the patients run the asylum or the inmates run the prison. Speaking of which, one of America's fastest growing and most profitable businesses over the last decade has been the Industrial Prison Complex, run by a small cartel of gangsters in suits with connections and influence over law makers, all of whom are reaping power and/or profits by locking staggering numbers of people away. It's currently one of the most underreported and disgraceful realities of present day America where one in every one-hundred people are locked in a jail cell; many for minor drug offenses which not long ago would not have resulted in draconian sentencing.

The end of the Roman Empire looked much like the current American Empire. Run by corrupt politicians obsessed with power and greed it deteriorated out of existence. It's easy to wonder to oneself: if a society where one in every one-hundred people are locked away is it possible that that society is headed the way of Rome? And maybe that isn't such a bad thing?

This song was written around the premise that "business as usual" in the USA needs be a thing of the past. It's time that corrupt bankers, CEOs, and Wall Street thieves along with the unpatriotic war profiteering mad men and women who suckered the people of the United States into unnecessary war spend some time in prison while we repair the damage they have done to the good people of this world.

The song, "The Modern Rome Burning" was inspired by the case of Kevin Cooper. Learn more at: www.savekevincooper.org

If you believe that the USA can do better than fill prisons for profit, launch illegal and unnecessary war, leave millions without proper health care or no health care at all, and endlessly pollute our environment and world, please take the time to vote today, Nov 4th. Your vote will not solve our problems over night, but your involvement is a step toward progress.

As a reminder, the Pittsburgh Food Bank is currently experiencing a severe shortage of food and is in dire need of donations. We are hosting a benefit show on November 9th at Mr. Smalls in Millvale, PA, to highlight the importance of individual actions and helping those in need. The power is your hands, we hope to see you there so united we can help an organization that has done so much for so many.

Love-Peace-Unity,
